About Us
Why YONNEW
Our journey began with a personal connection to Hasami, Nagasaki—a town renowned for its rich pottery tradition.
The name YONNEW combines yonnyu, a local dialect word from Hasami meaning "plenty," with the English word "new."
It was born from our desire to bring people plenty of new encounters with Japanese tableware, along with fresh and unexpected ways to enjoy it beyond convention.
Concept
Why Shapes
When people think of Japanese tableware, they often notice its beautiful patterns and materials. Yet its true appeal also lies in its unique shapes.
Developed through generations of Japanese daily life, each form reflects its purpose, history, and culture. These distinctive shapes are one of the defining features of Japanese tableware.
At YONNEW, we focus on these uniquely Japanese forms. While many Japanese tableware shops organize their collections by region or maker, we invite customers to discover Japanese tableware through its shapes.
By sharing the original purpose and stories behind each form, we hope to help people appreciate their traditional role while enjoying them naturally in everyday life around the world.
